Questions people actually ask
What is the difference between wireless and fiber?
Wireless reaches you through the air from one of our towers, so it goes in quickly and needs no digging. Fiber runs a cable to your building, which takes longer to arrange but is faster and steadier, and it does not mind the weather.
What do download and upload speed actually mean?
Download is how fast things reach you, which decides how quickly pages, updates and video load. Upload is how fast things leave you, which decides how good you look on a video call and how long it takes to send files. Both are counted in megabits a second, written Mbps.
Why is my wifi slower than the speed I pay for?
Wifi is always slower than a cable. Walls, distance, the age of your phone or laptop and your neighbours all take their share. A machine plugged in with a cable is the honest test of what your line is really doing.
What are ping and jitter, and should I care?
Ping is how long a reply takes to come back, counted in milliseconds, and lower is better. Jitter is how much that time jumps about. Anybody gaming or living on video calls feels both of these far more than they feel raw speed.
My neighbour has fiber and I do not. Why?
The network is built street by street and sometimes building by building. Permissions, the route the cable has to take and what the landlord allows can all hold one address back while the one next door goes live.
How accurate is the coverage checker?
It follows our own build records and is updated as areas go live. If you believe your area is wrong, call us and we will look at the address itself rather than the street.
You do not cover me yet. What now?
Tell us where you are. We add areas continually, and you will hear from us the week it reaches you rather than having to keep checking.
