Domain Registration Lookup
Look up who a domain is registered with, when it was created, when it expires and which nameservers it uses, through the modern RDAP service.
RDAP, and why WHOIS results look empty now
RDAP is the structured replacement for WHOIS. It returns proper data rather than free text that differed at every registry, and it runs over HTTPS, which is why this works on hosting where the old WHOIS port is blocked.
Contact details are mostly gone, and that is deliberate. Privacy rules led registrars to redact the registrant name, address and email from public output, so what remains is the registrar, the dates, the nameservers and the status codes. For most practical purposes those are the useful parts anyway.
The status codes are worth reading. clientTransferProhibited means the domain is locked against transfer, which is the safe state for a domain you intend to keep. pendingDelete or redemptionPeriod mean it lapsed and is heading toward release, and recovering it at that stage costs considerably more than renewing would have.
